Alix Roy

Alix Roy was born in 1930 in Port-au-Prince. He studied at St. Louis de Gonzague and the Louis Hall Institute. Noted artists Luce Turnier, Maurice Borno and Lucien Price tutored him. Later he became a draftsman for UNICEF in Haiti. In 1956 he received a scholarship to further his art studies in the United States and traveled to New York to work on perfecting his painting technique. His works often portrayed children in playful scenarios, capturing the essence of Haitian childhood with humor and irony.

He returned to Haiti in 1978 and settled in Leogane . Published in: Nadal, Marie-Jose and Gerald Bloncourt Haitian Arts.
