Antilhomme Richard was born in the early 1922 in Trou de Nippes. He later became a mechanic and then worked at painting and construction. When he was around fifty, he met Tiga, the founder of the Saint Soleil art community in the mountains above Port-au-Prince, and became one of the first members of the group. Antilhomme and other members of the San Soleil School of artists, came home from parties and painted the events, not as they they saw them, but how they experienced the event, filtered through the homemade liquors, ecstatic dancing, and songs. Saint Soleil disbanded in 1978.
